Privacy policy
This policy explains what information Loreteller collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Loreteller is a connector that documents your software projects in your own Notion workspace. In this policy, "Loreteller", "we", "us", and "our" refer to the service and the people who operate it. If you have any questions, you can reach us at [email protected].
A quick summary
Loreteller stores the minimum it needs to do its job: the account details from your sign in, an access token that lets it read and write the Notion workspace you connect, and basic logs to keep the service secure. The project content you create through Loreteller is written into your own Notion workspace, which you control. We do not sell your personal information.
Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in to Loreteller, our authentication provider gives us your email address, your name if it is available, and a unique identifier for your account. We use this to recognize you across sessions and to keep your data separate from other people's.
Notion authorization
When you connect your Notion workspace, Notion gives Loreteller an access token, a refresh token, and identifiers for the workspace and the connection. We use these credentials to read and write only the pages and databases you ask Loreteller to manage. We store these tokens in encrypted form and never share them with anyone outside the service providers listed below.
Content you create through Loreteller
The project notes, decisions, change records, glossary terms, and similar content you ask Loreteller to write are stored in your own Notion workspace. To carry out your requests, Loreteller reads and writes that content and may hold it briefly in memory while it works. We do not keep a separate long term copy of your Notion content beyond what is needed to complete an operation and keep the service reliable.
Usage and technical data
We record basic technical information such as timestamps, the actions requested, error details, and your network address. We use this to operate the service, diagnose problems, and protect against abuse.
How we use information
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To read from and write to your Notion workspace as you direct.
- To operate, maintain, debug, and improve the service.
- To detect, prevent, and respond to security issues and abuse.
- To contact you about important changes to the service when needed.
How Loreteller works with AI assistants
Loreteller is a tool that AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT call on your behalf. When you ask an assistant to read or write something, the assistant sends the request to Loreteller, and Loreteller sends back the result. Anything Loreteller returns becomes part of your conversation with that assistant and is then handled under that assistant's own privacy terms, not ours. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of whichever assistant you use Loreteller through.
Service providers we rely on
We use a small number of trusted providers to run the service. They process information only to provide their part of Loreteller and are bound by their own commitments to security and confidentiality.
- Notion. Your own workspace, which is where your project content is stored.
- WorkOS. Manages sign in and account identity.
- Google Cloud. Hosting and encrypted storage for the service.
- Your AI assistant platform. Anthropic if you use Claude, or OpenAI if you use ChatGPT, since that platform is what calls Loreteller for you.
This list can change as the service evolves, and we will keep it current. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
How long we keep information
We keep your account information and your Notion tokens for as long as your Loreteller account stays connected. You can disconnect at any time, either by revoking Loreteller's access inside Notion or by removing the connector, which stops any further access. When you delete your account or disconnect, we delete the stored tokens and account information within 30 days, except for limited records we are required to keep for legal or security reasons. Your project content remains in your own Notion workspace and stays under your control.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and you can revoke Loreteller's access to your Notion workspace at any time. Depending on where you live, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights over your personal information. To make any of these requests, email us at [email protected] and we will respond within a reasonable time.
How we protect information
We encrypt data in transit using TLS, store access tokens in encrypted form, and limit who and what can reach your data. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so while we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Where information is processed
Loreteller is operated from the United States, and information is processed there. If you use Loreteller from another country, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States.
Children
Loreteller is not intended for anyone under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will provide a clearer notice. Continuing to use Loreteller after an update means you accept the revised policy.
